Dry itchy ears
One of ayurveda’s most divine bodywork treatments, shirodhara—the continuous flow of oil over the forehead. This technique stimulates both the pituitary gland and the third eye, calming the nervous system, releasing stress and negative emotions, improving sleep, and heightening spiritual awareness. After a scalp, face and shoulder massage, a continuous stream of herbal infused oil is poured over the forehead. This is a profoundly relaxing and calming treatment for the nervous system as it induces a state of deep meditative relaxation, and improves circulation in the brain benefiting the whole person mind, body and spirit.
Traditionally called Hridayabasti, this treatment includes a localized massage over the chest area. Then a warm medicated herbal oil treatment where warm herbal oil is poured within a dough dam that is created around the heart area. The oil penetates into the deep tissues of the body, and is followed with an herbal steam. This treatment is used to nourish the lungs and strengthen a challenged heart. Excellent for improving circulation and breathing. Emotionally it releases deep seated anger, grief, sadness.
Chest aches and pains
Traditionally called Katibasti, this ancient ayurvedic treatment has a profound ability to relieve back pain, melt rigidity in the spine and nourish the bones. It includes a localized massage over the back. Followed by a warm medicated herbal oil treatment where warm herbal oil is poured within a dough dam that is created around the problem area of the spine to nourish and strengthen muscles and nerves. After the medicated oil is removed a herbal steam is applied to the back.
This therapy is a must for anyone who is under chronic stress and is feeling fatigue. It includes a localized massage over the low back and kidney area. Then a dam is made out of dough and placed over the adrenal glands and a collection of warm herbal oil is poured into the dam over the kidney/adrenal area, melting away chronic stress, tension and fatigue. This therapy restores and replenishes energy reserves, and melts away stress and tension.
Traditionally called Nadhibasti, this treatment is used to balance the subtle channels of digestion. It begins with a gentle massage over the abdominal area with herbal oils. Then a dam made out of dough is placed over the navel area and warm herbal oil is gently poured in and collected. This is an excellent treatment to relieve indigestion, gas, bloating and constipation. Once the dam is removed a local herbal steam is applied.
Traditionally called Janubasti, this treatment starts with a localized massage over the knee and leg area. Then a dam is made out of dough and placed over the knee and a collection of warm herbal oil is poured into the dam. The warm oil collection deeply penetrates the body and works by improving circulation, delivering powerful herbs and nourishing delicate tissues. This treatment is followed by a localized steam.
Chronic knee pain
Traditionally called Greevabasti, this is an ayurvedic neck care and hot herbal oil therapy. This treatment starts with a localized massage. Followed by collection of warm herbal oil placed over the neck. Bathing the area in medicated oil works to improve circulation, loosen tight muscles and relieve stiffness. The procedure includes oleation and sudation around the neck region simultaneously. Amazingly beneficial for chronic tension and pain in the neck region. After the oil is removed a herbal stream in applied to the neck.
